Battle Mountain juniors Porter Middaugh and Will Brunner finished second and third in the Class 4A boys final at the Colorado High School Activities Association state cross country championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Middaugh was edged in the 5-kilometer race by Nolan Hoffman of Mead by a 15:31.35 to 15:31.67 margin, with Brunner clocking 15:39.4 to help Battle Mountain finish fifth overall with 168 points.
